when it snows in April

Sigh. Winter is reluctant to depart this year. There is nothing we can do. All we really want is a gentle day with sunshine and soft breezes and singing birds. We can feel it in the sun as it shines through our window, but the shadows remain cold and devoid of life.

I’m starved for color and scents and sounds and can’t wait for those first brilliant green busting leaf buds, those vibrant pink blooms and the sweet scent of violets and cherries blossoms. And though the birds have been singing for many weeks, I long for their dawn chorus and the sounds of the trees as it drifts through my open bedroom window.

The forecast this week is finally hopeful, with temperatures predicted to finally climb out of the freezing zone and into the lovely 70s. If you need me, give me a call. If I don’t answer, I’m most likely at last soaking in the gentleness of spring.
